On the 16th of September of 2011 in Baku Park Hyatt hotel The Center for National and International Studies held the conference “ The identity searches of the Turkic states in the 21st century: back to the pre modern times?” and presentation of the book “The Identity dilemmas of the Turkic states in the 21st century ” (CNIS, 2011).
The conference was concluding the series of the round tables, conducted by the CNIS during the 2010-2011 years with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy. (more...)
The EU policy in the region from the Mediterranean to the Baltic, from the Caspian to the Black Sea and the realities of the region was the topic of the workshop on “The EU approach towards the Caspian: soft power or realpolitik?”, held by the Center for National and International Studies at the Hyatt Regency on September 7, 2011. The conference on “National and Civic Identities” was hosted in Ismayilli region, Lahich settlement by Center for National and International Studies on June 25, 2011.

A Conference on “Eurointegration and the way of settlement of the conflicts” organized by the Center for National and International Studies was held in Lenkoran city on May 28.
In her opening speech at the conference Leyla Aliyeva, President of the Center for National and International Studies emphasizes that 93 years before, on that day of 1918 the first democratic state – Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established. “Despite the difficulties, ADR always adhered the policy of integration with Europe.”

On April 29, 2011 at the Landmark Ares Hall was held a conference on “Development and modern conditions of political pluralism in Azerbaijan and Turkey”, organized by the Center for National and International Studies. On April 1, 2011 CNIS held a conference on "National Identity and Politics: Dilemmas of Azerbaijan and Turkey". On January 22, 2011 conference on “Relations between state and religion in Azerbaijan and Turkey” organized by the Center for National and International Studies was held in Azerbaijan Media Center, Baku. On September 25, 2010 CNIS concluded its 2009-2010 project with the conference on “ Transition in Azerbaijan and Turkey: History and Current Challenges” in Baku.
In the course of year Turkish and Azerbaijani experts traveled all over Azerbaijan hosting seminars addressing democratic standards, the rule of law, state and nation-building experiences, civil society, political pluralism and other significant topics. (more...)

From 11th of March through the 16th of March within the framework of the EU4Seas project Dr. Leila Alieva made a field trip to Kazakhstan. The objective of the trip – both to Astana and Almaty – was to survey the experts’ and diplomatic community on the sub-regional multilateralism in the Caspian basin. (more...)

On February 27 Center for National and International Studies organized and held a conference on the topic “ Civil Society’s Role in the Development of Democracy in Azerbaijan and Turkey” in the ISR Plaza. According to the research plan within the framework of the EU4Seas project the President of the CNIS Leila Alieva from 12th of January to 17th the president of the CNIS was on a field trip to Moscow, Russia.
During the trip Leila Alieva met with the independent experts, diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, representatives of RELEX Moscow. (more...)
