Center for National and International Studies (CNIS) is an independent non-profit research institution based in Baku, Azerbaijan. Our goal is to conduct non-partisan research, covering a wide variety of issues such as regional conflicts and security; oil and politics; state and democracy building; foreign and domestic policies. We also design and implement various programs in such fields as archeology and history, preservation of historical monuments, along with gender and environmental issues.
We support our country’s integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures. Our aim is to re-discover our heritage of liberties and democracy and to promote such traditions, set by Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-1920), in modern Azeri society. Our vision is an independent democratic Azerbaijan, which is a member of EU.
CNIS brings together practitioners, researchers and policy makers to develop policy recommendations, to exchange ideas and to share research. We have a goal to promote market of independent ideas, provide policy makers with up-to-date expertise and increase level of public awareness and knowledge on vital issues concerning our society.
